A Six–week Teleclass-webinar
Are other people’s priorities, issues, and needs cooking on YOUR front burner? Do you know what’s right for others, but aren’t sure what YOU really want?
Do you occasionally visit or make pilgrimages to the land of victim consciousness? Do you give and give, then wonder why you feel just a TEENY BIT resentful? Do you feel angry and don’t know why?
Codependency is learned dysfunctional behavior. It is dependence on outside sources for power, safety, and sense of self. It is an insidious little habit, because most of us have been trained and rewarded for putting the needs and priorities of others first on our ‘to do’ list of life.
In this six-week class, you will have the opportunity to:
- Set clear intentions and learn to ask for what you want as you honor yourself and maintain your personal integrity.
- Give yourself permission to make use of and celebrate the full range of your emotions.
- Learn to detach with love as you stop living other people’s lives and stay on your own path.
- Build healthy relationships where boundaries are respected and feelings are honored.
“The only difference between codependents and the rest of the world is that other people don’t pick on themselves for being who they are.” ~ Melody Beattie
I don’t have all the answers, but I have some good questions. Join us as we build up the muscles of our authentic selfhood. The curriculum includes creative and humorous cartoons that explain the principles of codependency, the Victim Triangle, and how to stop the cycle of dysfunctional giving and live from the Win-win Circle. We will use games, plexercises (play exercises), and the power of the group to support each other.
The textbook for the class is Codependent No More by Melody Beattie. This is an excellent book, written by a woman who has studied codependency for twenty years. The information and wisdom is timeless. If you have questions as to whether this class is appropriate for you, give me a call at 415 381-9161.
